Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely used and successful
therapeutic interventions. A fairly prescriptive intervention, it is perfect to be used by
school staff working directly with students.
In any therapeutic intervention, the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most, if not the most, crucial elements. By training and empowering school staff to use CBT we are improving the chances of any intervention being successful.
CBT is a talking therapy where the therapist works with the client to change thoughts and effect change. There is no psychoanalysis involved, or any deep delving into psyche.
